The adjoining kitchen is well equipped with everything you need during your break. It has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer dryer. You might get caught up looking out of the kitchen window while washing up. In the winter time you can see through the trees to Latrigg Fell in summer you can enjoy the thoughtfully planned garden with its year round colour and its many flying visitors! This is a dog-friendly cottage on a private lane in Portinscale. The cottage sleeps five people in three bedrooms and benefits from lovely views to Derwentwater and to the Newlands Valley. The cottage has an interesting layout with bedrooms on the ground floor, split-level mezzanines and picture windows in the main living rooms to make the most of the view. The conservatory is off the sitting room boasts a beautiful view towards Catbells and a door opens into the garden which backs on to fields and farm land. The garden enjoys a peaceful aspect with beautiful views and features well established trees and several patio areas Portinscale is a small village on the edge of Derwentwater. There is a large marina where you can hire boats or launch your own. In the centre of the village is a delightful tearoom that transforms into a restaurant by night. There also is a good village pub that serves food, local ale and is dog friendly. Keswick is a short stroll away over a pleasant footpath with views to Skiddaw and Walla Crag. There are plenty of great walks straight from the door either down to the lake or into the Newlands Valley. The entrance is via the front door into a small hallway with coat hooks. An inner hallway leads to a single bedroom with inbuilt hanging space. There is a further twin bedroom on the ground floor with a zip-and-link bed that can be made into a super-king bed on request. There is a newly renovated bathroom with a large shower (shower seat available if required), WC, wash basin and electric towel rail. From the ground floor, there are five wooden steps up to large kitchen/diner with vaulted ceilings. There are large windows the length of one side of the room. These windows provide a beautiful outlook towards the lake and in the evening you can see the twinkling lights of Keswick. There is an Aga for cooking and heating hot water, dishwasher and a table with dining chairs. There is a door off the kitchen to a large utility room with a further sink, washing machine, microwave, separate dryer and fridge/freezer. At one end of the kitchen/diner there are wooden steps up to the sitting room. In the living room there is a large picture window that over looks the garden. In the living room there is a flatscreen TV with 32in screen, DVD player and Freesat recorder. An inset wood burner keeps the room cosy and warm with intitial supply of logs and comfortable seating. A door from the living room leads to the conservatory where there is a bench and seating. The conservatory boasts a superb view to Catbells. At the other end of the kitchen/diner there are further wooden steps that lead to a mezzanine area with a quiet seating area ideal for reading. A generous selection of books are provided. On this level there is a king-size bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and hand-held shower over, WC and wash basin and a Velux window. Outside is gravelled parking area for two to three cars. There is a path all the way round the house with three patios, a lawn and several well established trees to one side. There are fields to one side and views to Catbells. The garden is enclosed by a wire field fence. There is an outside tap and the owners can provide a hose on request for washing dogs. As well as panel heaters there is an air circulation unit into each room of the house that circulates the heat to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Welcome to this cosy end of terrace cottage for up to five people tucked down a country lane in peaceful Lamplugh. Boasting fresh decor and some beautiful traditional features including a wonderful wood burner it has two lovely bedrooms overlooking its garden and the fells beyond. Set on the western edge of the Lake District National Park the area around Lamplugh offers some gloriously unspoiled countryside as well as easy access to the coast. There is so much to explore within a few miles radius of the cottage from tranquil tarns and gentle river strolls to wonderfully picturesque lakes and mighty fells. The tranquil Ennerdale Valley, one of the Lake Districts wildest valleys is just a few miles away. Its remote location and wonderful walking opportunities make it the perfect place to escape to even in high season. Or why not visit Loweswater and Crummock Water in the opposite direction? Two stunning lakes with a wealth of walks both gentle and more challenging and the promise of a lovely meal at the pub located between the two. If youd like to explore local town life you could head to Cockermouth, less than 8 miles away. This charming Georgian town was the birthplace of William Wordsworth and you can still visit his childhood home. Alternatively you might enjoy its great choice of independent shops and eateries. Heading west you could visit Whitehaven, a Georgian maritime town with a colourful history involving rum, sugar and piracy. You could even bring your bicycle and follow the Coast to Coast cycle route from the cottage to get there. Whichever side of this lovely area you choose to explore, this cottage makes a charming and welcoming jumping off point. Its a lovely characterful room with a decorative fireplace, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and that dreamy view over the neigbouring cottage to the fells beyond. This floor has a lovely large, light bathroom with an electric shower over the bath and a glorious deep bath for soaking away aching muscles following walks. Outside the front door you cross the access lane for the other houses on the terrace to Lund Cottages enclosed garden. Its a lovely space to enjoy the peace and quiet over an alfresco dinner or glass of wine.

It has a large peaceful garden visited by local wildlife and there are extensive views of Eskdale from the cottage. Many period features have been retained including the wonderful staircase, cast-iron fireplaces and pretty stained glass in the windows. There is a warm and homey kitchen, finished to a high standard with a range cooker and a wood burner for colder days. The sitting room has windows on three sides to take advantage of the stunning views of the valley and a wood burner. There are three good-sized bedrooms and a bathroom with luxurious underfloor heating. Eskdale is a tranquil valley, virtually untouched by modern development. There is plenty of fell walking right from the door of the cottage. Choose from hikes on the high fells such as Scafell or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass. Bankside overlooks The Green station, just a 2-minute walk away, one of the stops on the narrow gauge Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway that runs through the valley all the way to the sea. There are five pubs in the valley, the nearest being just a short walk down the road. Children are welcome and it serves real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop is close by and sells a comprehensive range of groceries and local produce. The side door to the cottage is under a sheltered porch. This opens into the boot room and the adjacent utility room that has a washer, a dryer, sink and space for hanging wet weather gear to dry.
