This characterful holiday home is a large, light-filled, ground floor studio apartment that’s perfect for a couple looking for a comfortable and stylish base from which to launch into the Lake District. Siskin is one of seven apartments in a complex, a Victorian Lakeland slate building dating from 1860, set in a quiet side street just 100m stroll from the bustling centre of Keswick, with its pubs, restaurants, shops, art-deco cinema, theatre and attractions. Although parking can be a headache in Keswick, Siskin gives you the advantage of a private parking permit, so your lovely day in the Lakes won’t be marred by hunting for a parking space. Keswick is a gem in the northern Lake Districts crown, located on the shores of the incredibly gorgeous lake, Derwentwater. Its a vibrant market town with a wonderful atmosphere, where you can revel in any number of adventurous outdoor activities or pamper your taste buds with a huge range of eateries providing tasty local food and Cumbrian real ales. The cycling and walking on offer here is unbeatable, with paths and tracks to suit those in search of pleasant walks or those who wish to take on the Lake District giants. Skiddaw is available to climb if youre feeling more up to the challenge. Ancient and mysterious, Castlerigg Stone Circle is a little over a mile up the hill from Keswick. Dating from around 3,000 BC, it is one of the most stunningly situated stone circles in Britain, offering phenomenal views in all directions. Magnificent Derwentwater is only a short walk away from Easedale House, here you can hire a rowing boat, take a launch around the lake or simply lose yourself in the scenery. Compact and comfortable, Siskin offers a well-appointed and welcoming base to enjoy all the sights and activities the area has to offer. There are seven apartments in total in the complex. Booked together, they can sleep up to 18 guests and two dogs. The living area features an electric fireplace with flame effect for cosy nights in, a Smart TV and a wonderfully comfortable, two-seater leather sofa. The retro, circular G-Plan dining table seats four (and can be extended for up to eight, though you would need to find the extra chairs) and is set within the large bay window area, looking out to Southey Street and across to the slate-built Keswick Methodist Church. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fan oven/microwave, an induction hob, dishwasher and a retro-style Swan freestanding fridge/freezer, theres a little extra worksurface too, with a mobile wooden island unit. There is a shared washer/dryer on the mezzanine floor just upstairs (sahred with three other apartments). Although this is technically a studio, the bedroom is separate but open to the living room. This lovely, quiet room has a king-size bed and a large mirror door wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, plus a chest of drawers and bedside drawers too. The compact en-suite bathroom houses the WC, heated towel rail, cabinets with built-in handbasin, lamp with integral shaver socket, and a large walk-in shower with dual overhead and handset chrome shower sprays, offering a generous rainfall drenching experience, a real luxury after an energetic day spent on the fells.
