Head to Dodd Wood just over the road from the cottage, after a short but steep climb youll be rewarded by stunning panoramic views from the summit. Serious hikers can tackle Skiddaw, Englands fourth highest mountain, or why not enjoy a more sedate pace with a walk along the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake? The historic stately home of Mirehouse is just down the road from the cottage and has beautiful gardens to explore, as well as an adventure playground for younger children. The nearby Lake District Wildlife Park is another fun day out for families too. The bustling market town of Keswick is less than a 10-minute drive away and has plenty to offer.
