With Derwentwater within easy reach, Portinscale is ideally placed for spending a day at, in or on the water: enjoy a lakeside picnic, go wild swimming, hire a canoe or take a ride on the popular launch and let someone else do the hard work. For a birds eye view of the lake, hike up Catbells, whilst a 20 minute walk from Manor Cottage takes you through woods to The Lingholm Kitchen and walled Garden; a beautiful estate where Beatrix Potter set some of her best loved books, which has a lovely cafe and is a perfect pitstop while youre out and about. Outside the cottage there is private, off-road parking for two cars, a real bonus for the location.
