The village of Grange in County Sligo is the starting point for a spectacular drive through the Gleniff Horseshoe with its limestone cliffs in the valley between the Truskmore and Kings Mountains. Grange is at the foot of the Dartry Mountain range with its distinctively shaped Benbulben Mountain which is known worldwide as the symbol of County Sligo. Created by glaciers during the Ice Age, Benbulben Mountain is home to a fascinating range of flora and fauna including a number of species that in Ireland are only found on its slopes. The county town of Sligo is 10 miles away and contains an array of shops, bars and restaurants. Its name derives from the Gaelic word Sligeach, meaning Shelly River due to the abundance of shellfish in the waters around the town.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.
