Some of the wildest parts of the moors lie within easy walking distance, while the larger town of Okehampton is just under five miles away. South Zeal is home to two pubs and a village shop, offering all the essentials for a self-catered stay. Nearby attractions include the National Trust's Castle Drogo, Stone Lane Gardens, The Miniature Pony Centre, Okehampton Castle and the Beck Falls Ancient Woodland Park.
