With two road bridges spanning the Menai Strait, it serves as the primary gateway for the Isle of Anglesey. The castle and pier in Beaumaris, which lies across the water, make for a nice day trip, or you can take a boat to Puffin Island. Beautiful landscape can be seen along the Anglesey Coastal Walk, and the island is home to numerous excellent beaches, including Rhosneigr, Trearddur Bay, and Red Wharf Bay. On the island is the National Trust property Plas Newydd, while on the mainland are the Penrhyn Castle and Bodnant Gardens, among other National Trust sites. Snowdonia's breathtaking lakes and mountains are just the beginning and Bangor is the perfect base from which to explore this stunning region.
