Located halfway between the county seat of Taunton and the city of Yeovil, the historic market town of Langport sits at the confluence of the River Parrett in the heart of the Somerset levels. Because of its convenient location, it serves as a commercial and cultural centre for the surrounding villages and as a jumping-off point for excursions into the surrounding countryside and the Somerset Levels, one of England's most pristine natural areas. Many artists and photographers have found inspiration in the region's ancient beauty and diverse wildlife, and visitors come from all over the world to see it for themselves. The picturesque Somerset Levels can be explored on foot or bike via the many paths that wind through the surrounding countryside. As one of the best places to go birdwatching in the United Kingdom, Somerset is home to a wide variety of animal species. It also features the country's longest standard gauge line, which can be travelled on the heritage railway. The beautiful town of Glastonbury, known for its world-famous music festival, is less than ten miles away, making this an ideal touring base for the region. The town also features a wide range of first-rate services and amenities, such as the stunning abbey, Clarkes Shopping Village at Street, Wells Cathedral, Wookey Hole, and Cheddar Gorge. Burnham-on-Sea, located on the coast, is a great option for a day at the beach thanks to its convenient location, wide variety of services, and beautiful sandy beach. The nearby Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) of Mendip Hills is ideal for serious hikers and cyclists. The beautiful fishing port of West Bay, the Jurassic Coast with Lyme Regis and the artisan town of Bridport, with its markets and music venues, or the historic cities of Bath and Wells are all within reasonable driving distance to the south.

Somerset offers 3 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmers’ market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.
