Swanage, a family-friendly seaside resort on the Isle of Purbeck at the eastern end of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, is known for its golden sands. The town has many shops, pubs, and restaurants that serve locally caught seafood. It's also known for its annual jazz festival in July. The Victorian wooden pier is a great place to walk, fish, and watch the world go by. The Swanage Railway ends in town, and nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists on a 6-mile journey through lovely countryside to Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers coastal walks, dolphin spotting, and wildlife watching, plus comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe. Studland has one of the country's best beaches, surrounded by heathland, and a regular chain ferry to Sandbanks. This is a great vacation spot year-round.

Explore the fossils and stunning beaches of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, visit historic Sherborne and Shaftesbury, or enjoy the footpaths, country lanes and thatched-roof pubs Dorset offers.
