Broughton-in-Furness is located in the southwest part of the Lake District, about six miles from Coniston Water, and dates back to the 11th century. There is much to please the visitors, including a charming cobblestone square with a magnificent horse chestnut tree, surrounded by businesses, taverns, and homes, many of which are of Georgian origin. The village is a perfect location for a walking or climbing getaway, with ample opportunities to explore the Duddon Valley and the Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of the greatest British poets of the 20th century, and William Wordsworth immortalised this region via their writing and poetry. Branwell Bronte, brother of the Bronte sisters, briefly resided in the town. The Furness railway line, which runs along the west coast of Cumbria and departs from neighbouring Foxfield, making for a great day trip. This charming town is surrounded by the beauty of the Lake District and is near to the coast, making it an ideal base for exploring the region's beautiful lakes, towering peaks, and heather-covered moors.
