St Helens is located on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight, between Bembridge and Seaview, in a seaside setting on high elevation. St Helens is a traditional English village, with the village green at its heart, offering cricket and football pitches, a children's playground, and breathtaking views of Bembridge Harbour and Culver Down. There are also excellent restaurants, a pub, a newsagent, a post office, and a grocery store in the village. The Duver, an NT stretch of shingle and sand that was previously the site of a Royal links golf course, is only a short walk away. With sand and shingle, this beach is ideal for building sandcastles and collecting seashells, as well as crabbing off the Bembridge Harbour Causeway. There's also the popular Baywatch Café, which has everything you need for a fantastic beach day, as well as spectacular views of the Solent and St Helens Fort. Between 1867 and 1880, the fort was erected to safeguard Portsmouth from a French invasion, and at low tide during the summer, a mass walk of up to 2000 people from the beach to the fort and back is held, complete with driftwood fires and barbecues.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker’s paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.
