Clun was referred to as "the quietest place under the sun" in the poem A Shropshire Lad by A.E. Houseman. Clun is a picturesque village in the South Shropshire Hills, known for its Saxon church, thriving river, and pack horse bridge (built in the 14th century). It is in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to The Marches, and is located on the Shropshire Way. In this pristine area of Britain, you may enjoy the outdoors in peace and see an abundance of native wildlife. Kerry Ridgeway, Offa's Dyke, and the Clun Forest are all within easy driving distance. May is the time of the annual Green Man event. Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford are all within driving distance from Clun.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
