Set in the North Pennines in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Alston is quaint town surrounded by a spectacular variety of landscapes. There is an abundance of unusual shops, locally made specialities and historic 17th Century stone buildings; it’s no wonder Alston inspired the work of many artists and writers.

Open heather moors and peatlands together with beautiful dales and hay meadows sweep across this northernmost section of the Pennine hill range. Discover a range of attractions and a rich heritage.
