Visit the County Museum, which contains a display dedicated to Thomas Hardy, who was born only two miles away in Bockhampton, and take a lovely walk around Maiden Castle, the biggest hillfort in England. Weymouth's beautiful beaches and harbour are only seven miles away, as are Portland's mountainous peninsula, which is connected to the mainland by Chesil Beach and is a part of the stunning World Heritage Coastline. In fact, you'll get so enchanted by Dorset's enchantment that you won't want to leave when your time is through!
