Treat yourselves to a sumptuous stay in this magnificent ground-floor apartment at Far Sawrey, in the Lake District. Set within a spectacular country mansion, the one-bedroom, studio retreat sleeps up to two guests and one dog. From here, step out to explore the impressive parkland grounds with their panoramic vistas, or stroll approximately 0.5 miles to the shores of Lake Windermere. Walk 0.5 miles in the other direction to see Hill Top, where children’s author Beatrix Potter lived, or drive 6.5 miles to Coniston Water and embark upon a 14-mile circuit of the lake. Find yourself stunned as you climb the steps and head into the opulent reception hall. Wander into your private apartment to discover this is also overflowing with beautiful features. Find your lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom has gorgeous panelling, an attractive fireplace and a bay window capturing the scenic views. Light the open fire in here on chilly days then read your book, watch the TV/DVD or discuss your plans as it crackles in the background. Cook romantic meals for two in the kitchen then dine together at the table. Enjoy a fabulous sleep in the double bed then have a hot shower in the morning before heading out for the day. Wander the shared gardens as you choose and follow the footpath 1 mile up to Claife Heights. Enjoy access to shared laundry facilities at the Victorian mansion and find you have parking for two cars. Head 6 miles down to Lakeside, taking in the views out across Lake Windermere as you go. From here, step on to a cruise to take in more stunning scenery, but this time from the water. Alternatively, board a heritage train to Haverthwaite and back. Have a day out shopping and dining in Ambleside, 7.5 miles away.
