Lying on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Shap, this handsome, spacious and sympathetically updated cottage is an ideal holiday home for families and friends eager to explore the northern reaches of the Lake District. Offering light and cosy accommodation for up to six guests, the characterful Grade II-listed house offers stylish decor, tasteful furnishings and an array of original features including large picture windows, window seats, a ceiling rose, vaulted ceilings and an oak dining table. Perfect for exploring the majestic Eden Valley, this fantastic holiday home enjoys spellbinding views of a breathtaking part of the Cumbria landscape. You will be welcomed into the property via an impressive hallway leading through to a beautiful light-filled lounge with sumptuous furnishings and a wood burner effect gas fire. Exploring further, the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is beautifully equipped, with a handy additional pantry. Upstairs, the first-floor landing has a seating area with local maps to help plan your days. This floor also has a refreshing bathroom and two charming, colourful bedrooms: one king-size and a double. Steep cottage-style stairs then lead up into the loft conversion comprising a king-size bedroom and en-suite shower room. Outside, the enclosed split-level back garden has a charming lawn and a terrace with garden furniture, making a lovely spot for dining alfresco. Shap is a cheerful rural village with a choice of pubs, a cafe and fish and chip shop, perfectly situated for visiting the Lake District just a mile to the west. Walkers, climbers and nature lovers can explore local landmarks and attractions including the remains of Shap Abbey (0.5 miles), Gunnerkeld Stone Circle, The Galloway Stone, and Lowther Castle and Gardens all within 7 miles. The nearest lakes are Haweswater, which has an RSPB site (5.5 miles) and the eastern shores of Ullswater (11.5 miles).
