With two pubs, a cafe and a couple of shops, its a peaceful spot for a break away from it all. Hop on board the ferry to the town of Fowey which lies just across the river. The narrow streets of its old town are home to numerous interesting medieval and Georgian buildings, while in the main street, an abundance of independent shops, cafes and restaurants can be found, where you can try the unmissable River Fowey Mussels. From Fowey you can take a cruise up the river or out to sea, or take in the coast on foot, heading east from Polruan or west from Fowey, along the stunning South West Coast Path.
