Brixham itself is a harbour town with a proud maritime history, which visitors may like to explore by jumping on board the fascinating replica of the Golden Hind. There are several beaches within easy reach of the town centre, including Shoalstone Beach, which has the additional draw of a wonderful 53-metre tidal pool, providing safe bathing all year round. The cathedral city of Exeter is less than a 30-mile drive away and is the place for shopaholics.
