A converted grain store, it exudes charm from the exposed stone and whitewashed walls of the lounge to the wooden staircase and low-pitched ceiling of the bedroom. An atmosphere of calm fills this pretty cottage and farmhouse-style furniture has been placed throughout to make it an extra cosy place for a retreat. Four stone steps lead up to the front door which opens into the welcoming lounge area. Warmed by the electric wood-burner-effect fire, you can spend your evenings with your nose in a book, watching the TV or seeing your favourite films on DVD. Two steps drop down to the kitchen/diner where you can rustle up delicious meals of local Devon produce. Up the open-tread wooden stairs, you’ll find a cosy bedroom with wooden flooring and an en-suite shower room. Sunny days can be spent enjoying the dappled shade in the raised garden area behind the cottage or exploring the local countryside directly from the doorstep. The Folly is located 2 miles from the village of Buckland Brewer with a local pub and traditional butchers. Bideford (9.5 miles) offers a selection of independent shops and cafés and is a good spot from which to access the Tarka Trail walking and cycling route. For an unforgettable experience, book a boat trip to the island of Lundy, home to puffins and Sika deer. The sandy beach at Westward Ho! (9 miles) and rugged coast around Hartland (12 miles) provide yet more opportunity for exploration.
