Just a half-mile stroll from the picturesque Lakeland village of Hawkshead, this spacious and inviting property makes a fantastic holiday retreat for larger families and groups of friends. Set in the heart of the Lake District between Windermere and Coniston Water, this welcoming Victorian house offers stunning views over the Esthwaite Valley and provides fantastic accommodation for eight guests. With the shores of Esthwaite Water just a mile away, this extensive property has a large garden and period features and makes a great base for walkers, cyclists, hikers and nature lovers discovering the region’s spellbinding lakes and fells. The heart of the house is the fresh and relaxing lounge, with plenty of seating, a large bay window and an open fire in an original fireplace, providing an ideal space to settle back, chat about the day or enjoy a movie. You can sit around a second open fire in the dining room which also has a large table perfect for a family celebration. The stylishly designed kitchen has plenty of equipment, great for rustling up your favourite dishes. Upstairs, there are three delightful en-suite first-floor bedrooms – a pretty twin and two tastefully decorated doubles, one with a sloping ceiling. Sitting in the eaves of the house is a cosy second-floor twin bedroom with a TV and low sloping ceilings, alongside a handy bathroom. Outside, the property has a large south-facing garden with a lawn and a patio with outdoor furniture, providing a delightful space for dining alfresco. Hawkshead has a choice of cafes, tearooms and pubs and is home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the museum of Hawkshead Grammar School which William Wordsworth attended. Other local landmarks and attractions include Tarn Hows, Latterbarrow, Beatrix Potter’s home at Hill Top and Claife Viewing Station overlooking Windermere (all within 4 miles).
