Spacious and full of character, it sleeps up to 22 across three floors and has a wine cellar and games room. The two kitchens will make light work of large-party meal prep. Located in the heart of the thriving market town of Llanfyllin, this handsome property retains plenty of period features alongside all the essentials for an effortless big-group getaway. Expect exposed beams, stunning fireplaces, wooden floorboards, panelled walls and well-dressed windows, plus a wealth of fine furnishings and thoughtful finishing touches. Two kitchens, a utility room and a wine cellar mean there’s ample space and equipment to store and prepare tasty meals, while the large dining room and long table sets the scene for lively conversations and after-dinner lingering. The lounge and drawing rooms each offer comfortable seating, ornate furnishings, feature fireplaces and wood burners, the snug features a TV and DVD for home-style movie nights and the reading room offers a peaceful space to get away from it all. A ground-floor double bedroom and shower room are convenient for guests who prefer single-storey living. On the first floor are two beautifully decorated super-king-size bedrooms (one accessed via a separate staircase from the second kitchen), one shower room and two king-size bedrooms – one with an en-suite bathroom featuring a fantastic free-standing bath and separate shower, together with an additional single bed and cot. On the second floor, there’s a king-size with a cot, a double, one double with an additional single bed, and one super-king size with two additional single beds. There is also a family bathroom with an opulent free-standing bath and separate shower. A winding staircase leads up from the second floor to a fantastic games room in the eaves of the house. With an air hockey, mini-pool and football table together with toys, board games, a TV and a Nintendo Wii, it’s a great space to chill. Outside, the large gravelled courtyard area has outdoor furniture and a BBQ. Flanked by the rivers of Cain and Abel, Llanfyllin is an ideal base for adventures in North Powys, Southern Snowdonia and at Lake Vyrnwy (12 miles) where a range of outdoor activities are on offer. A similar distance away, Welshpool is home to the Montgomery Canal and historic Powis Castle and Garden. In high season, the narrow-gauge Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway runs 16 miles up some of the steepest gradients in Britain.
