Heading north-east, the bustling town of Middleham (3 miles) is known for its proud horseracing heritage and for the historic ruins of Middleham Castle, once the home of Richard III. The area offers miles of peaceful walks, with local attractions including Aysgarth Falls, Jervaulx Abbey, Thorp Perrow and Druid’s Temple, all within 15 miles. To the north, the cheerful market town of Leyburn (5.5 miles) has some charming places to eat and drink, while Richmond (14.5 miles) is home to a Norman castle and the Green Howards Museum.

From the kitchen, one stone step leads up and through into a cheerful snug which has a Smart TV and a sumptuous L-shaped sofa. Also from the kitchen, four stone steps lead down to the handy utility room with a WC, a stone shelved cool larder and a separate pantry for recycling boxes and stores. Going upstairs, the first floor offers a choice of four tastefully decorated bedrooms each with a traditional beamed ceiling: there are three cheery super-king-size rooms (two of which can be made up as twins) and additional a cosy twins. From one of the super-king-size rooms a few steps lead down into a stylish en-suite shower room. The property also features two elegant bathrooms. Please note some of the first-floor rooms have low sloping ceilings, and the property has a number of internal steps.
