This stylish two-bedroom holiday hideaway, set within a picturesque Lakes village, is a fabulous choice for couples, small families, and four-legged friends alike. It combines original features with a stylish contemporary touch, featuring an open fire alongside hand-carved, bespoke wooden furniture and quirky touches throughout. Just 0.5 miles away is a welcoming pub, while a handy shop is 2 miles down the road. The bustling market town of Kirkby Stephen (5 miles) has food markets and cafés to explore, with charming villages dotted all across the countryside nearby. For days filled with fresh air, head out on scenic hikes and cycle rides or go horse trekking along rolling lanes. The local village has a playground and tennis courts, while nature lovers can enjoy spotting butterflies and birds at Smardale Gill Nature Reserve (3.5 miles), set along an old railway line with the striking backdrop of a viaduct. Step through the front door into a welcoming lounge, complete with a cosy armchair, hand-carved dining table, Smart TV and warming open fire. The adjoining kitchen is brimming with character, showcasing quirky décor and thick wood counters, while a practical boot room at the rear provides access to the back patio, along with a hose and dog shower for mucky pups. Heading upstairs, take a moment to admire the eye-catching wallpaper made from original 1940s wartime magazines. The upper floor includes an elegant wood-panelled bathroom with a roll-top bath and handheld shower, a single bedroom with handy hooks for clothing, and a double bedroom featuring an open-style wardrobe. Outside is a lovely courtyard garden for relaxing, enclosed for safe doggy roaming –if you’re lucky you may spot the local red squirrels going about their business as you sit with a cuppa in the fresh air. What’s more, a path around the garden leads to an indulgent relaxation room with full-body heated massage chair and infra-red sauna; lovely for relaxing those achy muscles after long days out.
