Perfect for large families, this cosy retreat is surrounded by open countryside and within easy reach of Lake Windermere. The area is a favourite for walking, cycling and watersports, with routes like Scout Scar (7 miles) offering panoramic views, The Helm (3 miles) with views down to the bay, and Windermere (15 miles) drawing in keen hikers with climbs to Orrest Head and School Knott. Kendal (5 miles) is an eclectic hub for food lovers, with a welcoming mix of artisan bakers, creative makers and relaxed eateries serving everything from handmade pastries to bold local dishes. For younger visitors, the Lakeland Maze Farm Park (2 miles) is packed with seasonal fun, including a giant summer maize maze, animals, go-karts and indoor play, and Serpentine Woods (5 miles) is home to the ever-popular alphabet trail. When it’s time to slow down, visit National Trust favourites Sizergh (4 miles) with its striking gardens and Hill Top (22 miles), the storybook home of Beatrix Potter, full of charm and history. Arrive at your cottage and park under the carport, which boasts two private parking spots. Head into your cosy, one-level hideaway through the back door and discover the spacious hallway where guests can kick off muddy boots or hang up anoraks. Sink into the sofa in the modern, open-plan living space to relax and watch a good film on the Smart TV. The gas fire brings a warming ambience, which is a bonus at the end of active days. The kitchen is designed to make cooking a breeze and has all the equipment needed to fuel up for adventures. The dining table is flooded with light and overlooks the garden. When it’s time to rest, you’ve got three attractive bedrooms to choose from; two king-size rooms and a bunk room for kids or pals. The family bathroom finishes off the inside of the home and has a bath and a shower, for quick washes or long soaks. From the dining area, open the doors to the garden and relax with your coffee at the table and chairs, or on the outdoor sofa at the back of the property. The enclosed wrap-around garden is perfect for pooches to roam or kids to play before heading off for a walk to the fells from your front door.
