A combination of traditional dark wooden features with elegant gold, pink and green accents create something resembling the charm of a medieval manor, but it’s perfectly sized for two guests and one canine companion. Set in rural Suffolk, this retreat offers a classic countryside getaway for a romantic break with day trips to the coast and nearby market towns. With a roll-top bath, wood burner and garden, you’ll feel truly spoilt during your stay. As you enter the property, you’ll notice the characterful tongue and groove panelling, wooden beamed ceilings and stone flooring throughout the kitchen/diner. French doors let the breeze into the kitchen area that’s fitted with a one-wall unit. Adjacent is a charming dining table for two. Leading off the kitchen is a bathroom with an indulgent roll-top, copper bath and a separate shower. Climb the stairs to reach the bedroom/lounge with a vaulted ceiling and antique-style furniture. At one end of the space is a wood burner and a window with garden views. Move past the sofa and chic floor lamp to reach the king-size bed with a brass frame. Outside you’ll find an enclosed garden with a patio, furniture and an outdoor fireplace. There is private parking for one car. While staying in this quiet part of Suffolk you can easily get to lovely attractions. Visit the renowned 16th-century gardens and deer park of Helmingham Hall (4 miles). Spend an afternoon looking around the art galleries at Needham Market (7.5 miles) or spend an evening at the opera house before dining at a local pub. Venture into the Suffolk and Essex Coast and Heaths National Landscape for a stroll through the dog-friendly Simpson’s Saltings Nature Reserve (20 miles) to Shingle Street Beach (21.5 miles).
