Tucked away just moments from the world-renowned town of Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh-Herefordshire border with easy access to the suburb walking trails running along the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this beautifully mid-terraced Victorian house is the perfect base for a truly magical Welsh adventure. After a long day adventuring around your surroundings, head into the light-filled farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to rustle up a delicious feast with the fabulous local produce you’ve collected and enjoy special family time seated around the rustic dining table. As the evening draws in, fire up the living flame gas fire in the cosy lounge to keep toes and paws toasty as you relax on the comfy sofas. When bedtime calls, follow the cottage staircase up to the first floor to find a beautiful bedroom complete with an original ornamental fireplace, or climb further to the second floor to reach the charming second bedrooms cutely nestled underneath the eaves of the cottage. Throw open the patio doors in the kitchen/diner and spill out onto the enclosed patio to enjoy dining alfresco long into the evening. Renowned as the ‘Book Capital of the World’, the historic town of Hay-on-Wye is charming to the core and boasts not only a plethora of independent new and second-hand book shops but ancient castle ruins and wonderful walks including Offa’s Dyke Path (0.5 miles) at the foot of the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley Walk which both run through the town. While away an afternoon skimming stones and watching canoeists paddle the gentle rapids of the river beach The Warren just over half a mile away. Keen outdoor explorers can get to know the surrounding area very well by enjoying golf, fishing and horse riding.
