If you are looking to enjoy the best of Cumbrias natural environment, you have come to the right place! The whole area is a paradise for walkers and there is something to suit every level of ability. You can walk to the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, or can enjoy an endless array of low-level walks in the area. For more relaxed days, there are lots of fantastic picnic spots and the beautiful fairy glen waterfalls in the Langstrath Valley that are perfect for a refreshing swim on a sunny day! If you want to enjoy a bit of culture, the bustling market town of Keswick is only 8 miles away and has lots on offer, there is a very reliable bus service which pretty much takes you door to door! The cottage itself is wonderfully welcoming and has been freshly decorated throughout. The highlight has to be its idyllic location, sat at the end of a little row of white cottages next to its namesake, a beautiful mountain stream that cascades down from the top of Honister Pass. The charm of the surrounding area can be enjoyed from every room, each having a slightly different view. If you decide to head out in the evenings, there are lots of wonderful local pubs dotted all along the Borrowdale Valley, including a bar just 1.5 miles walk away. You can also opt to drive into Keswick, which offers food from all around the world and has a lovely little cinema, as well as a brilliant theatre. You wont be short of things to do! As you walk into the cottage, you enter into a small entrance way, with handy hooks to hang your coats on the back of the door. Immediately in front of you is the bathroom and the kitchen is to the left, leading through to the living room. The refurbished cottage is bright and welcoming throughout. The ground-floor bathroom has a shower over the bath, WC, sink with mirror, and heated towel rail. Across the hall is the kitchen/diner, a lovely and bright space with a large sash window that looks up onto a grassy rock-terrace area at the back of the cottage. Decorated in a country cottage style, its well-equipped with a microwave, oven with electric hob, washing machine, Welsh dresser, and a dining table seating five. Its the perfect place for sociable food prep before you all sit down together to enjoy a tasty meal! There is also a medium-sized fridge/freezer in a small pantry area within the kitchen. From the kitchen, you walk through to a cosy living room, which has beautiful views of the gill and the mountain tops of Bessy Boot and Glaramara. The living room has a double sofa, two armchairs, open fire under a wonderful stone chimney breast, slate bookshelves with a selection of books, and a small smart TV. There is a set of three tables, for enjoying a cuppa, and a footstool next to the sofa. This is a lovely area in which to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet at the end of each days adventure. A wooden door separates the living room from the stairs, which offers a nice division between the downstairs area and the bedrooms upstairs. As you walk up the stairs, you enter into a very comfortable carpeted hallway, which is nice and spacious, with high ceilings and lots of light coming in through a Velux window. The first room you get to is the single room, which has a single bed, a bedside cabinet with lamp, a sink and a set of draws. The room has been tastefully decorated in relaxing floral greens and purples and the window looks across to the terraced area behind the house. There is a small WC next to this and then a twin bedroom. The twin room is a wonderfully bright and tranquil room with two single beds (each with a reading light), a set of draws, and a sink with mirror. Further along the corridor is a small cupboard with space for hanging shirts. The master bedroom is bright and spacious, with views out of the window that will catch your breath at first sight. Because the cottage sits uphill, you are elevated above the valley and have a sweeping outlook across fields of Herdwick sheep and up to the formidable mountain tops of the valley. The room is stylishly decorated in relaxing green hues and has a double bed with bedside drawers and a lamp on each side, a wooden chair, an armchair, a sink with mirror, chest of drawers, bookshelf of books, and a wardrobe (containing an iron and ironing board). You will find a hairdryer in the bedside drawer. Outside, a small lockable shed houses a tumble dryer and can also be used for storing bikes (there is space for either one adult bike or a couple of childrens bikes). Though there is no garden, the cottage sits on a natural terrace with the gill flowing past, so you can choose to sit on the grass next to the water on a sunny day!
