Burnmoor Tarn on Eskdale Fell, a 5-mile walk or 9-mile drive, is a good spot for wild swimming in the warmer months; it’s generally quiet and has amazing views. Hop on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway miniature railway ‘La’al Ratty’ at the village station, which wends its way through spectacular scenery. Call in to one of the village pubs for a quick drink or a bite to eat on the way home.
