The Beacon is a beautiful reverse level barn conversion situated on the main approach to Bigbury-on-Sea village. Tucked away in a small private group of barns, its elevated location means its the only barn that provides stunning views of Bantham, Bigbury and the incredible Burgh Island. From the comfort of this bright, attractive property, lazy days can be spent on the beaches that surround you, a mecca for wind and kite surfers, canoeists or sand castle enthusiasts! A tidal causeway crosses to the island, with its famous Art Deco Hotel and the renowned Pilchard Inn, originally a favourite haunt for smugglers.

This much-loved holiday home with stylish open plan living space on the first floor, makes the most of the spectacular views and stunning expanses of sandy beach within 5 minutes’ walk (longer coming back!) The owner provide a car parking pass for the field car park at the bottom of the hill, only 200m from the beach, so you can drive back up the hill!

Not only perfect in the summer for a beach holiday, it’s also ideal for those who enjoy a refreshing walk along the stunning South-West coastal path, an exhilarating stroll along the beach or a trip to one of many fine pubs and restaurants in the area in the quieter seasons. The Beacon is a fantastic destination and a warm welcome awaits you.

Accommodation: 
Reverse level, enter through the timber framed porch into the entrance hall with coat hooks and accommodation level, with three bedrooms.
Stairs up to the first floor open plan living area.
Beautiful lounge area with high vaulted ceilings, bright comfortable sofas, Smart TV, Juliet balcony with stunning views across to Bantham.
Kitchen area, a perfect space for entertaining with friends or family is well equipped with eye level electric double oven and grill, ceramic hob large American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and much welcomed wine cooler, every need has been catered for.
Dining area to seat 6, with views to Burgh Island and the adjoining farm and campsite.

On the ground floor:
Bedroom 1 Double with 4ft 6in double bed, hanging hooks, chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2 Twin 3ft single beds with wardrobe and french doors that open to the garden. 
En suite shower room with shower, basin, WC.
Bedroom 3 Twin 2ft 6in single beds (most suitable for children), hanging hooks, chest of drawers 
Family bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and WC.
Utility cupboard houses a washer dryer.

Outside:
To the front of the property is private enclosed sunny garden furnished with garden table and chairs and charcoal barbecue.
The garden gate opens to a communal gravel area with steps down to the parking area with two designated spaces for The Beacon. Views from are simply outstanding!

Parking: 
Two designated spaces for guests of The Beacon in communal parking area. This is less the 20m from the property, include 6 steps. Cars are allowed to park outside the property gate to unload and load luggage and or people!

Additional: 

  • Included: Bed linen and towels (Guests must provide their own beach/dog towels), gas central heating. Highchair and stair gate. 
  • Internet and telephone: Wi-Fi. There is no landline telephone available, however mobile signal is usually available inside with the booster antenna provided. 
  • Pets: 2 dogs welcome (strictly not in bedrooms or on furniture). 
  • Electric Vehicles: Please note this property does not have suitable facilities for charging electric vehicles.
  • Short Breaks: Short breaks available in the low season and mid season, 3 weeks before. 
  • Local Facilities: Beach - 500 metres, Superb village shop & Post Office- 2.5 miles in St Annes Chapel, or 1 mile Challaborough (via car and walking along cliff path) Pub - on Burgh Island, access according to tides At Anns Chapel 2.5 miles.
