The Wilderness is a charming, detached old miners’ cottage at the foot of the Stiperstones Hill range in Shropshire. The cottage is mostly set over the ground floor with a first floor family room featuring a king-size double bed and a single day bed. There is also a ground floor room with 2 single beds and a family bathroom, meaning the cottage can sleep four people. You will also find a well-equipped kitchen and a sitting room boasting a cosy woodburning stove and a dining area. Outside there is off road parking for four cars, a front lawned garden with a patio and furniture and a rear courtyard with more outdoor furniture. The village of Stiperstones nestles in an unspoilt valley on the slopes of the beautiful Stiperstones Hill range and is only eight miles from the delightful Church Stretton and twelve miles from the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Bishop’s Castle. This small Shropshire village boasts a shop and charming inn and is a perfect starting point for many scenic trails, with the summit of the famous Stiperstones Hill, a 1.5 mile walk, and the East Ridge Wood mountain bike trails very close by. The perfect touring base for your Shropshire adventure!

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
