Picket Mead consists of a kitchen/diner with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and dining seating for five people, and a sitting room with Smart TV and woodburning stove. The bedrooms consist of a double, twin, and single, serviced by a shower room. Outside, there is an enclosed rear garden with patio, lawn, and furniture, along with roadside parking for one car. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. You'll find a shop in 3 miles and pub in 3.1 miles. WiFi, fuel, power, starter pack for woodburning stove, bed linen, and towels inc. in rent. Picket Mead is a lovely base for a scenic getaway in Devon. Note: The cottage has an older-style staircase that’s a bit steeper than what you might find in newer properties, and some of the rooms have low ceilings and beams - something to keep in mind for those with mobility concerns.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast between Seaton and Branscombe. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a children's' play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
