In the centre of the Peak District National Park, in the shadow of Froggatt Edge and Curbar Gap, sits the charming, mediaeval village of Calver. Calver, a charmingly quaint village with a Post Office and a country tavern offering delicious food, is adjacent to the Longshaw Estate, which is managed by the National Trust, and is less than five miles from Chatsworth House, the residence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The charming village of Calver, which also boasts a traditional bar and post office, is a great starting point for hiking, climbing and mountain biking. It also has a cafe, a petrol station, a small grocery offering local goods, a craft shop and a gallery. A further selection of amenities can be found in the market town of Bakewell, the hub of the Peak District and the location of the renowned Bakewell pudding, which is only one and a half miles away from the village of Baslow with its shops, pubs and restaurants. Everyone may enjoy a day out in the parish of Curbar since Haddon Hall is nearby and because the ancient village of Eyam has a variety of taverns, cafes, and a craft centre. The Blue John and Speedwell caverns are located in Castleton, which is 8.5 miles away and offers boat rides through underground tunnels. The mythical "Little John" is buried in the churchyard of Hathersage, which is 2.7 miles distant. The Hathersage open-air bathing pool must be reserved in advance.
The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
