Nearby Kyle of Lochalsh, known as the gateway to the Isle of Skye, offers a range of shops, hotels and restaurants and boasts a busy harbour that plays host to a variety of cargo, fishing and occasional passenger vessels. Nearby Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland's most famous and popular sights, is perched at the end of a stone causeway on the shores of Loch Duich, whilst further south is the Glenelg Peninsula, a tranquil backwater, which is beautiful, remote and relatively undiscovered. An easy drive north of Kyle is the charming village of Plockton, famous for its palm trees, yacht-filled bay and the nearby hamlet of Duirinish with Highland cattle which wander the streets! Alternatively, cross the Skye Bridge to Skye itself and explore all that the mystical Isle has to offer.
