Located in the Dalby Forest and North York Moors National Park, Thornton-le-Dale is a charming village approximately two miles east of Pickering. Walking, biking, and nature-loving enthusiasts will be in heaven at this magnificent position at the head of a valley. Scarborough and Whitby, located 13 and 20 miles apart yet offering all the conveniences of two of the country's premier seaside destinations, are just a short drive apart. About an hour's drive away, York and Castle Howard provide all the history and culture a vacationer could ask for. There are a number of summer festivals and exhibitions held in the nearby market towns of Pickering, Malton, Kirbymoorside and Helmsley during the summer.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
