The county town of Gwynedd, Caernarfon, is a significant cultural and historical centre in North Wales. The town's 13th-century castle, town walls, and waterfront are all major draws for visitors. Castle tours and seasonal events like historical pageants are offered during the season. The Welsh Highland Railway, which travels through beautiful countryside, the town of Beddgelert, and on to Porthmadog, also stops here. From the harbour, you may embark on a fishing excursion, and within walking distance of the downtown area is Segontium, a Roman fort turned museum with a wealth of artefacts. Caernarfon is home to a plethora of restaurants and stores, and it's conveniently located near the beautiful beaches of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula, as well as the mountains and rivers of Snowdonia and the famous climbing mecca of Llanberis at the base of Snowdon.
