Southerness is a small seaside village on the Colvend coast, one of the best lengths of shoreline on the 'Scottish Riviera.' It was founded in the late 18th century and looks out over the Solway Firth. It provides all you need for a pleasant trip, including two pubs, a village store, a leisure complex with a pool and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools, and Gulf Stream warmed waters, as well as one of Scotland's oldest lighthouses, established in 1748.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
