Its name deriving from the 13th century church of St. Mary’s and the nearby River Tavy, the village of Mary Tavy can be found resting amongst the scenic wonder of the Dartmoor National Park, in easy reach of the bustling village of Tavistock. Once home to the world's largest copper mine, Wheal Friendship, as well as numerous lead and tin mines, the village boasts a rich history well-worth discovering. The village benefits from a good range of amenities, including a Post Office with shop and an inviting pub, The Mary Tavy Inn, where you can enjoy a hearty meal accompanied by a refreshing pint. Take a stroll along the scenic waterfront, a bridleway lying adjacent for those avid horseback riders, or venture further to explore the splendour of the National Park. Home to 368 square miles of natural delights, Dartmoor National Park boasts a plethora of walking and cycling routes leading you through steep wooded river valleys to enticing archaeological sites such as Spinster’s Rock, Grimspound and Higher Uppacott, there's so much to explore here, with ample opportunities for outdoor activity including canoeing, climbing, geocaching and more. Note :- Dethatched from the property Whincroft, with a separate and private entrance is ‘The Loft’. This has one bedroom accommodation over the garage and may be used from time to time. The garden at Whincroft is very private and The Loft does not overlook any of the cottage or garden.
