Foodies will be delighted by the town's plethora of eateries and pubs, including Kirsty's café. After wandering through the town's independent shops, visitors can venture into the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty and traverse many walking and cycling trails, along with many stunning settlements that are home to historic attractions, including Clun with its ruins of a once-glorious Castle.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
