Stanhope is an ancient market town resting in the Wear Valley, County Durham and within striking distance of the North Pennines. The town is often referred to as the "Capital of Weardale" and sits at the confluence of the river and the Stanhope burn. Within the town itself, you will find a superb selection of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks, plus the town is on the C2C cycle route.
