Braithwaite is located between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, two beautiful lakes in the region's north. Whitewashed Lakeland cottages, quaint shops, and cosy inns dot this picturesque village on either side of the Coledale Beck, which still has much of its original charm. The Newlands Valley, which lies between Braithwaite and Buttermere, is breathtaking, and Bassenthwaite Lake is a wonderful spot. There's a wide variety of walks to choose from, from strolls in the countryside to strenuous ascents of Skiddaw. Take a boat ride around the lake or visit Mirehouse, a beautiful house and gardens with an outdoor theatre located on its beaches. Keswick, with all its sights and sounds, is conveniently close by, as are the Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and more.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Short breaks may still be available.
