Fairholme is an attractive, stone-built, end-terrace cottage, centrally situated in the popular village of Hinderwell, seven miles north of Whitby. With three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with en-suites, it sleeps six comfortably. There is also a modern, fitted kitchen with a Belfast sink, dining room and a sitting room with an open fire to curl up in front of after a busy day. Outside there is a small front garden and off road parking for one car and unlimited roadside parking opposite the property, making Fairholme a great base for a lovely holiday.
Hinderwell is a small, lively village close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay. Hinderwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hildrewell, a derivation of Hilda's Well, named for the Abbess of Whitby who was travelling through the parish in a drought and was asked to intercede. Her prayers were answered when a spring appeared near the sight of the present Parish Church, and this spring has continued to flow from the hillside to this day. The village is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside, and walks, cycle ways, gliding, horse riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area.
