Dragonflies

Set on a peaceful country lane in the tranquil New Forest village of Martin, Dragonflies is a cosy and welcoming detached lodge which has the added benefit of being adapted for those with less mobility.

The living space is open plan, with comfortable seating, a large Smart TV and bespoke kitchen area. The bright double bedroom has French doors opening onto a private garden, with bistro set providing a lovely spot for morning coffee or outdoor meals. A bathroom has an adapted bath with access door if needed, plus overhead shower.  

Surrounded by open farmland and peaceful countryside within a registered ‘Dark Sky’ area, endless walking opportunities lead straight from the doorstep, with several fascinating prehistoric sites to explore nearby. The surrounding Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Martin Down nearby, is home to rolling heathland rich in wildlife, including rare butterflies and birds, and wildflower meadows home to several species of wild orchid.

Just seven miles away, the riverside town of Fordingbridge has plenty of independent shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants to enjoy, while the historic cathedral city of Salisbury—only twelve miles from the cottage—is well worth a visit for its stunning architecture, vibrant markets, and cultural attractions.

Please note Dragonflies is situated within the owners’ grounds. There is no oven, but there is an electric hob, microwave and air fryer.

Accommodation: 

Entrance through outdoor porch into open plan living area with comfortable seating, Smart TV and storage with hanging space.
Kitchen has an electric hob, Ninja air fryer, microwave, slim line dishwasher, washing machine and cafetiere. Please note there is no oven.
Freezer available in garden shed.
Bedroom with 4ft 6 double bed, bedside table. French doors to garden.
Bathroom with hand-held shower over bath, which has an opening door for easy access, wash basin, WC and towel rail.

Outside: 

The private garden is a peaceful retreat, featuring seasonal planting and a flat lawn, with outdoor dining set (not shown in photos) positioned for enjoying alfresco meals and drinks. Wild birds are regular visitors to this tranquil space, with goldfinches, tree creepers and several other rare species often seen flitting among the flower beds. Hedgehogs are also seasonal visitors to the garden!

Parking:

There is parking for one car on the private driveway.

EV Charging: Electric vehicle charging is possible via the outdoor mains socket to the side of the cottage. Please bring your own charging cable.

Additional: 

Included: Bed linen and towels (please provide your own beach towels if required), electric heating and Wi-Fi. Mobile reception is generally reasonable, although please check with your provider prior to booking.
Pets: 1 dog welcome. Dogs must be over the age of 1 year old (unless agreed with the owner prior to booking), fully house trained and well behaved. Please note that there is a standard charge of £30 per pet per week.

Bicycle Storage: Available in the lockable garden shed.
Short Breaks: Available all year round.
Local facilities: Short walk to the nearby pub, The Hart of Martin, and Martin Community Shop. All the amenities of Fordingbridge (7 miles) including mini-markets (Co-Op and Tesco Express), shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and petrol station. The cathedral city of Salisbury is 12 miles away.
