Horseshoe Cottage

Set within the grounds of the owners’ home, Horseshoe Cottage is a tranquil adults’ retreat. Remote, yet easily accessible along a mile long private drive, the recently renovated semi-detached cottage is situated within the Forest in a unique private location well over a mile from any road. Surrounded by wildlife, deer, ponies and cattle are daily visitors. Birdsong fills the air, fish swim in the large lily-filled lake and herons, ducks and kingfishers can be spotted. The bordering heathland is home to rare flowers and plants and the gardens of the main house are in comparison ornate, with Rhododendrons, Azaleas, many varieties of Daffodil and various specimen planting.

There is a choice of walks or cycle rides in every direction from the door, meandering along streams or on gravel tracks. Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary is within walking distance, where deer can be seen at close quarter, and Burley village can be reached on foot through the forest on an easy trail, with the option of a circular route along Sir Dudley’s Ride.

Burley is a traditional New Forest village, with a local store, gift shops, tea rooms, pubs and even a cider farm. Bikes can also be hired from the village at Forest Leisure Cycling. The market town of Ringwood is less than a 10 minute drive with many shops, pubs and a weekly Wednesday market, as well as a farmers’ market on the last Saturday of each month.  Further afield, the coast is within an easy half hour drive.

As the cottage is reached along a private track please be careful of potholes!

Entrance porch with door into lounge/diner with dining table seating two, sofa and Smart TV. French doors to outside paved terrace and garden.
Kitchen area with built-in electric oven and hob, larder fridge with ice box, washer/dryer. dishwasher and microwave.
Bathroom with bath and shower over, basin, WC and heated towel rail.
Stairs from lounge to Mezzanine Bedroom with double (4ft 6) bed, hanging rail and drawer unit.

Outside:

The peaceful garden has steps leading down to the entrance, with a paved area around the cottage with outdoor furniture for dining or relaxing with a glass of wine. The flat lawn overlooks the forest beyond.

Parking:

There is parking for 1 car on the gated private driveway.

Included: Bed linen and towels (bring own beach towels), central heating (gas), electricity, WiFi, welcome hamper including local produce. Bike storage available.
