The charming small town of Kirriemuir is considered the gateway to the Glens, with a wealth of outdoor activities including Munro bagging, loch and river fishing for salmon and trout, and even deer stalking nearby. Glen Clova, 14 miles away, is an excellent destination for hillwalking, whilst Loch Brandy, 17 miles away, is a tranquil loch surrounded by steep crags, the perfect place for a sunny picnic. Birdwatchers will enjoy a visit to the RSPB reserve at Loch of Kinnordy, 3 miles away, home to many wetland birds, viewable from hides and boardwalks. There are numerous local golf courses in the area, including Kirriemuir, Forfar, Alyth and Blairgowrie, all reachable within 18 miles.
