During the day, explore the Pictish Trail and sculptures. Alternatively, head off to roam the shores of Shandwick Bay (7 miles), taking a romantic stroll along the coast of the Moray Firth. Catch the small seasonal ferry from Nigg across the bay to Cromarty. Sample a wee dram at the Glenmorangie Distillery in nearby Tain (11.5 miles), or further north, the town of Dornoch offers a variety of cafes, gift shops and a must-visit beach. Step inside this superb cabin and into the welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area boasting cosy Scandinavian-style decor. Slip onto the sofa and make yourself at home while you take in the beautiful sea views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
