Leave the car at home and walk or cycle the old railway to the bustling market town of Keswick (5 miles) which boasts a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as a cinema and theatre. The beautiful lakes of Derwentwater (4.5 miles) and Ullswater (10 miles) are perfect for a scenic stroll, renting a boat or going on a cruise to take in the stunning surroundings. Thrill seekers will love a trip to Whinlatter Forest (8.5 miles) which puts the mountain back into biking. With climbs to breathtaking vistas and rewarding descents, the trails are perfect for those searching for their next adrenaline hit. The popular towns of Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere are also within easy reach, all within 20 miles.
