A gem of a property in a beautifully rural spot, deep within the national park, this one-bed holiday home is wonderful for a solo or couple’s holiday. It’s on a former working farm which has transformed its traditional stone buildings into lovely self-catering cottages, each with distinct character and exposed beams. Nearby you can climb up two of the Lake District’s 214 Wainwrights, Little Mell Fell (1 mile) and Gowbarrow Fell (2.5 miles), or book yourself in for an indulgent treatment at the fabulous waterfront hotel 1.5 miles away. You’ll enter this dog-friendly abode through a glass door, into a comfy living area with a sofa, armchair and TV. The inside is decorated in a modern country-inspired style, with neutral colours, natural materials and local artwork on the walls. Cook up yummy feasts in the farmhouse kitchen, complete with an apron sink, wooden work surfaces and glossy white tiles. The super-king-size bedroom has a gentle colour scheme of grey and white, plus an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. Outside, you’ll have a seating area with furniture and a fire pit so you can sit out late into the evening, soaking up the night sky. A short walk (1 mile) takes you to a local pub known for its delicious ales. Head to Pooley Bridge (3 miles) for village charm, riverside coffee shops, a restaurant, independent shops, tourist information and the chance to board an Ullswater steamer for a scenic boat trip. You’ll also have beautiful natural sites on your doorstep, like the Aira Force waterfalls (4.5 miles).
