A more challenging walk is Burnhope Seat (7.5 miles) – the highest fell in the North Pennines with superb views from its peak. Enter this converted coach house through the stable-style door into a small porch leading to a spacious and contemporary kitchen with a dining area. The decor and furnishings have a fresh feel and create a welcoming and homely ambience. The kitchen features an attractive island, wood flooring and beautiful quartz surfaces. Cook up an unforgettable tasty evening meal or prepare a hearty breakfast. The lounge area wraps around the kitchen, offering an inviting social space to spend time together, relax and watch a movie on the TV. You’ll also find a wet room with WC on the ground floor. Head upstairs from the lounge, and you’ll find a Jack and Jill bathroom and two comfortable bedrooms – a super-king-size and a double – with TVs. Head outside and discover a bench in a sunny spot, the perfect place for sipping your morning coffee. There is a charcoal BBQ for some al fresco dining and a large, shared garden featuring a raised lawn, mature trees, and picnic benches with pretty views over the town and countryside. Explore the local area which is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Killhope Lead Mining Museum will take you on a fascinating journey into the mining history associated with the local towns and villages. Nature lovers can enjoy a wonderful day in remote and rugged terrain at RSPB Geltsdale (16 miles), where you can look out for hen harries and black grouse. Alternatively, cross into Northumbria and you will reach Cawfields Quarry (17.5 miles) from where you can take a circular walk that takes in breathtaking scenery and follows part of Hadrian’s Wall.
