Said dinners are to be prepared in the kitchen next door, which is separated by a stable door and perfect for leaving pets to dry off after a walk. There’s also access to the garden from here, a sunny, enclosed space with furniture for outdoor dining. Move through the property and onto the first floor to find two bedrooms alongside a final family bathroom.

Whilst a walk-up Hellvelyn is a must, there is a world of other pastimes available close by to fill the rest of your days. The fantastic Ullswater is less than 1 mile away, offering boat cruises, kayaking and sailing on its shores. Explore The Ullswater Way, a 20-mile circular route around the lake, making sure to stop off at the Aira Force Waterfall (4 miles) to take in this splendid sight. On the opposite side of the water, visit the extravagant Lowther Castle and Gardens one enjoyable afternoon (14 miles).
