This is a fascinating and relatively undiscovered part of Cornwall, and if you want to get out and about, all kinds of treasures are in store. Try the picturesque town of Looe, 6 miles west, or drive east and around the Rame Peninsula, Cornwall’s ‘forgotten corner’, with the pretty villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, and Rame Head, 10 miles, where there’s a Medieval chapel and gorgeous views of Whitsand Bay (whose beaches are never crowded). Inland, Golitha Falls, 13.5 miles, is a series of small waterfalls in a lovely woodland which is perfect for a walk, rounded off with lunch at Inkie’s Smokehouse BBQ in the car park.
